Trombonist Jen Krupa joined Jazz Tales on Wednesday, May 26
California native Jennifer Krupa is an active trombonist, educator and composer in the Washington, D.C., area. Krupa performs regularly with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra; Sherrie Maricle and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra; and her own group, JLQ, with saxophonist Leigh Pilzer. She is also the music director of the U.S. Navy Band Commodores jazz ensemble.
Krupa has performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, David Berger’s Sultans of Swing, the Wycliffe Gordon Quintet/Sextet, Joe Lovano, Branford Marsalis, Nancy Wilson, Johnny Mandel, Chris Potter, Bill Watrous, Christian McBride, Eddie Daniels, Arturo Sandoval and numerous others. She has performed in Asia, Europe, South America and extensively in North America, and can be heard on recordings by Wycliffe Gordon, Johnny Mandel, Ann Hampton Calloway, the Blue Saracens, Brooks Tegler and Eva Cassidy, as well as several recordings by the Navy Band Commodores.
