Jazz pianists Bruce Barth and Eri Yamamoto will perform together a variety of selections of their own compositions and those of others in a four hands concert.
Bruce Barth is a performer and composer whose powerful and imaginative compositions have a voice that is deeply personal and expressive. In addition to traveling widely performing his own music, he has also performed with revered jazz masters. He also has collaborated with leading musicians of his own generation, including Terence Blanchard, Terell Stafford, and Steve Wilson. He has recorded 13 CDs and performed on more than one hundred recordings and movie soundtracks, including ten as a leader.
Eri Yamamoto has an equally impressive background in jazz as a performer and composer. Along with Barth, she has collaborated with such creative and celebrated musicians as William Parker, Daniel Carter, Hamid Drake, Federico Ughi. She also performs regularly with the Eri Yamamoto Trio throughout the world. “Firefly” is her ninth CD as a leader, and features long-time trio mates Dave Ambrosio on bass and Ikuo Takeuchi on drums. The title track evokes the natural beauty and tranquility of her native Japan, while other songs bring to life the vitality and energy of New York City.
