The Mainstay welcomes back inaugural scholarship winner Zach Lambert and his quartet for an exciting evening of jazz!
Zach Lambert began his journey with the guitar at age nine, and since then has never looked back. He began performing professionally in 2017, and since then has played hundreds of gigs ranging in a wide variety of styles, including jazz combos, solo guitar, big bands, pit orchestras, songwriter duos, and original and cover bands. He currently balances playing out professionally and continuing his education at Towson University.
In 2019, Zach played in a variety of settings around Annapolis and Baltimore, Maryland, including local and regional festivals, theater productions, charity events, church services, and bar gigs. In October, he was the featured guest artist for Mainstay Monday where he performed a duo with pianist Joe Holt. During the summer, Zach was a part of the production Voices of Carmen which was performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He was also given the opportunity to study improvisation in New York at The School for Improvised Music (SIM) at the Brooklyn Conservatory.
Mike Paxton has played saxophone since 4th grade in both school and church. He is active in orchestras, jazz bands, and classical music ensembles. Mike is currently a senior at Towson University studying jazz saxophone. Recently, Mike auditioned and was accepted into the 2020 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Jazz Orchestra, which will perform at this year’s Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival.
Brendan Brady is a drummer who lives in Baltimore, Maryland, and is a recent graduate of Towson University. Brendan can also be found gigging frequently around the Baltimore/DC area with multiple bands of many genres, including 2019 American Idol finalist Jeremiah Harmon and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Brendan also teaches at The Music Workshop and Timonium’s Music and Arts.
Warren Louie is a freshman at New York University where he studies upright and electric bass. Recently, Warren was afforded the opportunity to perform at the renowned Blue Note jazz club with saxophonist Chris Potter. During high school, Warren was selected for All-County and All-State Jazz Band. Warren also has experience playing out in various jazz and pop groups.
