Alsace… Get to Know your New Favorite Wines!
Alsace is France’s most unique and rare wine region. A cool growing region bordering Germany to the East, its wines possess a beautiful textural and glyceral mouthfeel, while having great acidity. Mostly known for white wines made from Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris, Alsace has begun to emerge with Pinot Noir as a beautiful compliment to the Pinots produced in its neighboring region of Burgundy. Varietal expression takes center stage in Alsace, and the influence of Germany is unmistakable; their wines are drier, and fuller in body making them ideal for early Fall enjoyment. In this class, you will learn how the soil composition is as diverse as any in the Old World and how to discern the difference in quality levels. While the wines are sometimes overlooked, the quality level of the wines are never a debate.
