Trombonist, composer and bandleader Alex Asher is best known for his Grammy-award winning work with Beyoncé Knowles as well as his indefatigable presence at the forefront of the Brooklyn music scene. Alex leads People’s Champs, a seven-piece band mixing experimental rock with African and Latin beats. People’s Champs have toured throughout the US and performed at major NYC cultural institutions, such as The MoMA and The Guggenheim. Additionally, Alex has performed internationally at the North Sea and Montreux Jazz Festivals, as well as at major pop venues as a part of the horn section for Boy George and Culture Club.
Byron Asher is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser based in New Orleans. Byron's compositions are most featured with his trio Nutria, which has toured throughout the US and performed at major cultural centers in New Orleans and elsewhere, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Byron has performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and internationally at Jazz a Vienne, Vienne, France and the Montreux Jazz Festival, as well as at festivals in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland.
