Virtuoso guitarist Dani Cortaza and his group return to Blues Alley for this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month series, joined by a very special guest, powerhouse salsa vocalist Max Rosado, for a wonderful evening of music highlighting the Latin side of jazz. Dani and Max will share some of their favorite tunes from several genres, including Latin jazz, boleros and Latin pop. You will even recognize some classic American folk tunes. Not to be missed!
DANI CORTAZA
Dani Cortaza has more than three decades of artistic life to his credit. He specializes in Brazilian and Latin jazz and South American folklore, in both nylon and electric jazz guitar. He also performs, composes and arranges Latin American folk music.
Hailing from both Argentina and Paraguay, Dani has performed in many prestigious concert venues around the world, namely in Japan, Europe, South America and the United States. He has appeared with international and local musicians, and with his own band at Blues Alley, the Smithsonian Jazz Cafe, Silver Spring Jazz Festival (2007, 2008, 2016, 2023), the Kennedy Center and Gala Theater, just to name a few venues.
MAX ROSADO
Over a period of 15 years, Rosado has appeared in the Puerto Rico Heineken Jazzfest, Día Nacional de la Salsa, World Salsa Congress, etc., and performed in national and international venues in Washington DC, Chicago, Cincinnati, London and Toronto, to name a few. Rosado has reached top 5 in different salsa charts such as Z93, NewGen Salsa and Salseo Radio, among many others. Rosado has also been part of the opening acts from artists such as El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and Luis Enrique.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico and currently based in Washington, D.C. Rosado has worked and recorded vocals with many artists in Puerto Rico, USA, Mexico, Panama and other countries. Rosado has worked with artists like Luisito Carrión, Jerry Rivera, Rey Ruiz, Ismael Miranda, Jose Alberto el Canario, Daniela Darcourt and Josimar, among many others.
