The Kristin Callahan Band will take you on a journey back in time to the era of the formidable Peggy Lee, performing Peggy classics, such as “Fever” and “Why Don’t You Do Right.” Peggy Lee, was an American jazz composer, singer, and actress. Her career spanned six decades, starting as a vocalist on local radio to performing with Benny Goodman's big band. She developed into a diverse artist, who wrote music for films, acted, and recorded albums that combined poetry and music. Many don’t realize that Lee wrote some of her own songs. Kristin will sing some of Peggy’s originals, such as “It’s a Good Day” and “In the Days of Our Love.” A Maryland native, Kristin started her career in Baltimore and is now performing throughout the East Coast, attracting many of the finest touring and recording artists to perform with her. Just to name a few...James King, Warren Wolf, Mike Pope, Allyn Johnson, Eric Wheeler, Ameen Saleem, Lee Pearson, Lenny Robinson. Kristin mesmerizes listeners with a contribution to music that is entirely her own. She released her second album in 2013, entitled “One Magic Day.” Marianne Matheny-Katz of The Baltimore Jazz Alliance said of the album, “this is a very romantic collection of fourteen songs that speak of deep emotion (especially love) and the magic of everyday experience, all presented in Callahan’s clear, soothing voice and straightforward style… Callahan’s voice, at times, contains aspects of Jane Monheit’s along with an occasional breathiness reminiscent of Astrud Gilberto, but she has her own distinct voice and point of view.” With two albums already under her belt, Kristin is currently working on her third album. The album is entitled “A Burning Kiss” and marks a different direction from previous albums, incorporating nontraditional rhythms and world instrumentation.
