“Nicole Henry has been making a lot of noise, nicely, with her latest album. It is easy to see why. She swings elegantly and her intonation, diction and phrasing are impeccable. Henry is the epitome of good taste.” - All About Jazz
“Emotionally warm, stylistically elegant, musically flawless, this is contemporary jazz singing at its very best. Her vocal sound is richly melodic, and she interprets lyrics with thoughtful care. Very warmly recommended to those who like the real thing.“ - Jazz Journal (UK)
Nicole Henry - Time to Love Again CD Release Tour
Powerhouse jazz vocalist Nicole Henry returns to celebrate the release of her new CD, Time to Love Again, an eclectic mix of jazz standards and reimagined pop tunes that showcases Henry’s soulful interpretations.
This is Henry’s her 8th career CD and fourth to reach the TOP 10. Whether burning through a swing tune or gently caressing a ballad, Henry truly makes each song uniquely her own and is often favorably compared to Whitney Houston and Natalie Cole for her dynamic range, impeccable phrasing, and bluesy gospel style. Stephen Holden of The New York Times raved, “I had the sense of being in the presence of a pop-soul superwoman whose every gesture and inflection conveyed confidence and mastery.” BroadwayWorld says, “So powerful is her charisma, so unique is her personality, so rich is her music, so abandoned is her joy that you can't watch her without being drawn in.”
Among her numerous accolades, Henry received the Soul Train Award for “Best Traditional Jazz Performance," “Best New Jazz Artist” by HMV Japan, and “Best Solo Musician” by the Miami New Times. She’s headlined in 20 countries and recorded and performed with artists such as Kirk Whalum, Gerald Clayton, Julian Lage, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra and Michael Feinstein.
As the UK Jazz Journal writes, “Very warmly recommended to those who like the real thing.”
