Andrew Hartman is a jazz guitarist and composer who is ‘blazing his own trail without debt to masters of the past rearing its head’ says Chris Spector (Midwest Record). Hartman has performed and/or recorded with such musicians as Chris Cheek, Catherine Russell, and Ike Sturm to name a few. His last album, Compass, features Hartman’s original compositions and has been highly regarded by fans and critics, such as Edward Blanco of All About Jazz who calls it an ‘exceptional and engaging work of art’.
Hartman is excited to lead his brand-new sextet, The Andrew Hartman Group, for the Washington Heights Jazz Festival. Featuring some of New York (and the world’s) brightest rising stars, the group will present a program of original music and arrangements steeped in the jazz standards tradition.
