Electric violinist Dave Kline follows his successful 2022 Blues Alley residency with another in 2023. He joins up with D.D. Jackson (piano) and David Murray (sax) for a convergence of genres, styles and colors. Kline has performed with artists as diverse as Chick Corea, Dwight Yoakum and Stephane Wrembel. Dave is known for his ability to shift musical genres seamlessly and a reputation for riveting performances with striking melodies and intense rhythms. Sold out shows at Blues Alley, DC’s premier jazz club, plus concerts at Strathmore, and many DC area festivals including the National Mall have gained him a wide audience.
Grammy winning jazz saxophonist David Murray covers a panorama of musical territory, from mainstream jazz to his performance with the Grateful Dead at Madison Square Garden. Murray was a founding member of the World Saxophone Quartet. Awards include; Village Voice Musician of the Decade, the Bird Award, a Grammy Award in the Best Jazz Instrumental Group Performance category for Blues for Coltrane: A Tribute to John Coltrane, the Danish Jazzpar Prize and Newsday Musician of the Year.
Two Emmy Awards and collaborations with Questlove and The Roots including a show at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall are just a sampling of composer and pianist D.D. Jackson’s accomplishments. Jackson has a long track record as an artist to watch in the worlds of jazz, classical and beyond and his albums have netted him a Juno Award and six nominations. Jackson’s expansive portfolio also includes music composition for theater, opera, orchestra and dance, in styles ranging from fiery solo works to large-scale orchestrations.
