Nanny Assis is a Brazilian- American percussionist, singer, composer, guitarist based in NYC Area. In 2011 and 2017 , he was the recipient of the prestigious Brazilian International Press Award. In 2017 Nanny received the Brazilian Ambassador for Music & Arts award for his work promoting the Brazilian culture in Japan. Mr. Assis is a composer for the new musical “Rio Uphill” which had its debut in NYC this past October. He also has recorded three albums.
Dani Assis is an American/Brazilian tenor/baritone studying Jazz voice at Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio. He has performed in many prestigious places including the Blue Note, BBKing Jazz Club and Carnegie Hall. Dani Assis is a 3 time all-state vocalist in Kansas and Connecticut, and has won the 2019 Outstanding Arts Award for Connecticut. With a variety of influences, he loves all genres of music and plans to explore many musical possibilities in this concert.
Etienne Stadwijk grew up in the Netherlands and Suriname, S.A., with music always central in his life. At age 20 he went to Boston to study music at the prestigious Berklee Music College. Subsequently he moved to New York City, which has been his home since. He divides his time between recording/producing and performing, and has worked with The O’jays, Kenny Garrett, Richard Bona, Harry Belafonte, Maxwell, Patty Labelle, Paul Simon, Angelique Kidjo, and Marcus Miller.
Paul Lieberman performs around the world, including many years with Airto and Flora Purim & three years as music director of Allman Brothers co-founder Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band. Paul has performed or recorded with Pat Metheny, George Benson, Jaco Pastorius, David Sanborn, The Allman Brothers, and Paquito D’Rivera.
A world class musician, native Clevelander Jamey Haddad spent most of 2012 and 2013 on tour with Paul Simon enhancing his world famous music with his percussion. Jamey Haddad has been a professional jazz musician for over 25 years. He has toured and recorded with many greats including Carly Simon, Joe Lovano, Paul Winter, Kenny Werner, and Dave Liebman. Currently Jamey teaches at Oberlin and he continues to tour with own group.
