Mike Geffner’s Inspired Word, one of New York’s most popular indie performance series, presents Soundz & Vibez.
The night features a mix of music and spoken word:
Brooklyn native Jolie Rose is a high school junior and cross-country runner whose main goal in life is to not just sing and fill concert venues but to be a successful songwriter and producer. Jolie has performed in Off-Broadway shows, played the leads of Annie and Matilda as the title roles and has been seen on TV shows such as Gotham and Sesame Street as well as in many commercials. She is the co-founder of Voices to End Hunger and directs and sings in these shows to raise money for food and supplies for the food insecure in NYC. She started this during the pandemic and continues to actively try to fight hunger in NYC with music and song.
Nick Cane is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who says simply "it's just me and a guitar." He mesmerizes with heartfelt lyrics, soulful tunes, and captivating melodies that draws its inspiration from artists such as Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Hozier, and Ed Sheeran. Nick will transport you to a world of emotions and self-discovery.
The Village, a folk/pop band, are two NYU freshmen, Sophia Granello and Alex Kaminsky, from Dubai and Savannah, Georgia. Both are Drama majors at Tisch in Strasberg, and after meeting on the first day here in NYC, have combined a strong passion for singing into connecting with people through their songwriting. Their influences: Indigo Girls, Phoebe Bridgers, and Maggie Rogers. They won the NYU UltraViolet Talent Competition overall, being awarded The Thomas Ellett Grand Prize. They competed through several rounds, performing on the Skirball Stage, the biggest Off-Broadway stage in NYC, performing in front of stars Brandon Uranowitz, Tituss Burgess, and Lucas Grabeel.
Glenn Robert Ford, from Brooklyn, is a spoken-word artist and lyricist whose words are a soul-stirring blend of personal memoirs and vivid storytelling. He has graced renowned stages such as the iconic Nuyorican Poets Cafe and the Bowery Poetry Club, and has performed at Malcolm X's 50th Memorial. On his birthday, April 9, 2024, Glenn released a poetry EP - a personal memoir dedicated to his mother and late father called Mike & Linda's Son.
