After standing ovations at the White House, Kennedy Center, jazz clubs in Costa Rica and Buenos Aires and concert venues across three continents, QuinTango brings Argentine tango back to Blues Alley in a show featuring their own arrangements of Astor Piazzolla, Julian Plaza, and Leonard Cohen and original music by the band’s Grammy-nominated composer Emmanuel Trifilio and Austin-based singer/songwriter Ali Cook. The rhythm section is led by Maestro Trifilio, QuinTango’s Argentine bandoneon player, with bassist Ali Cook and pianist Agustin Muriago. The violin section is anchored by Regino Madrid, whose day job is the National Symphony Orchestra, and rounded out by founder/violinist Joan Singer, the resident storyteller and MC. With vocals by singer/songwriter Ali Cook, these five musicians conjure a spellbinding emotional energy.
