Veronneau - Blue Tapestry: Music of Joni Mitchell’s Blue & Carole King’s Tapestry
Joni Mitchell and Carole King recorded their landmark albums during the same week in the same studio and changed the music world with their songs in 1971, putting women composers and performers center stage and launching the American singer-songwriter era.
Award-winning, world-jazz band VERONNEAU, led by Quebecoise vocalist Lynn Veronneau and UK guitarist Ken Avis, continue their month-long Blues Alley residency, interpreting the songs of these two critically and commercially successful albums and telling the story of Mitchell and King, the characters in their songs, and why this music was so important.
For Lynn Veronneau it’s all about the song. The Washington Post described their performances as “inspiring and joyful”. For Lynn Veronneau it’s all about the song. Critical Jazz described Veronneau as "Satisfying and bewitching...one of the best voices in the business." For this show VERONNEAU will be joined by Karine Chapdelaine, bass (Quebec); and Manny Arciniega on percussion (USA).
