“Perfecting the art of mesmerizing audiences all around the world…Henry is a vocalist of beautiful sensitivity and solid phrasing.” -All About Jazz
Powerhouse jazz vocalist Nicole Henry returns to Blues Alley with her quartet for a special tribute in honor of Mother’s Day. She will feature songs from her newest release, TIME TO LOVE AGAIN, as well as music from her 8-CD discography, four of which have reached the TOP 10 in the U.S., the UK and Japan, and have earned her a Soul Train Award for “Best Traditional Jazz Recording.”
Whether burning through a swing tune or gently caressing a ballad, Henry truly makes each song uniquely her own and is often favorably compared to Whitney Houston and Natalie Cole for her dynamic range, impeccable phrasing, and bluesy gospel style. Stephen Holden of The New York Times raved, “I had the sense of being in the presence of a pop-soul superwoman whose every gesture and inflection conveyed confidence and mastery.”
BroadwayWorld says, “So powerful is her charisma, so unique is her personality, so rich is her music, so abandoned is her joy that you can't watch her without being drawn in.”
