PAM ANN & ME!
Stories about my life in comedy
Pam Ann and Me is a one woman show recounting stories of how the Pam Ann character all took off (pun intended). From the birth of Pam Ann to my first ever show at the Lounge nightclub in Melbourne, making the move to Sydney to pursue my love of comedy, gays and drag queens. My life's goal was to move to London, work in gay clubs and London’s Westend theaters. But at what price?
After living in London for a decade the time arrived to spread my broken wings and jet off to New York where I lived for 8yrs before moving eventually to Miami where I am now based. Art imitating life; Pam Ann has flown me around the globe numerous times, introduced me to some of the biggest airlines and opened my world to another one of my great inspirations - the incredible life of flight attendants.
Pam Ann and Me is about everything you wanted to know about performing in some of the world’s most legendary and iconic drag and trans bars from Australia to London in the 90’s and early 2000’s. "Virgin Mary’s", The Albury Hotel, The Two Brewers, The Way Out Club, Madame Jojo’s, Heaven, G.A.Y, Chunkies, Central Station, Brompton’s. From gay bars to theatres; Soho Theatre, The Bloomsbury Theatre, Hammersmith Apollo, London Palladium, Vaudeville, State Theatre to name a few. From groundbreaking successful shows to some of the worst shows of my life. Bombing in Blackpool, being attacked on stage, extreme anxiety, drugs, working a day job in PR looking after some of London’s most notorious gangstas, parasitical promoters, being taken to the cleaners by managers and agents, lost opportunities, being attacked by drag queens, stalked by a lesbian to standing ovations in Paris, TV shows, gay cruises, world tours and two of the highlights of my career; touring with the one and only Cher and flying high with Elton John. I’m so lucky to have worked with these super stars and with some of the most talented and iconic drag queens around the world, they taught me so much. I like to say I went to the school of Dragatic and Trans Arts.
If you've ever considered a life working in comedy, drag, or the performing arts this show is for you! For anyone who has battled life in any way this show is for you or simply anyone who's interested in my story. My hope is that this show inspires and empowers artists, creatives and people to keep believing in themselves and to keep perservering through it all with passion, determination and integrity. I am still pushing myself to try new things and this is one of those moments. I hope you enjoy the show and my insights into the world of comedy and life itself.
As they say in show biz YOU NEVER KNOW WHO'S IN THE AUDIENCE!
