“… Renée performs her subtle interpretations with an elegant intensity and a voice that is at once sweet and stirring.”
Gail Wein, National Public Radio
Vocalist Renée Tannenbaum makes her Blues Alley debut this fall, returning from performances in Prague and Rome. With her smooth, lyrical style, she delivers a thoughtful selection of jazz standards in four languages that reflect her own multilingual ability and reveal the universality in the great tunes of the American Songbook. Renée will be joined by a stellar band featuring Jon Ozment on piano, Vince McCool on trumpet, John Leonard on bass and Gary Montanaro on drums, with special guest Rick Peralta on guitar.
Born in Toronto, Renée appeared in a variety of venues in Canada, Italy and New York City before moving to Washington, D.C., where she has been living and singing since 2001. With her warm and engaging energy, she plays with the area’s top jazz musicians, fronting her own combo at the city’s best music venues. Beyond the local clubs, here in the nation’s capital she has also performed at several of the Smithsonian’s prestigious concerts, including the Take Five! jazz series at the American Art Museum and the National Gallery of Art’s Jazz in the Garden concert series. Her CD Sway was released in 2006.
