Thu Nov 7
Chad Hollister and Sean Harkness invite you all to their long overdue reunion at the Triad Theatre in New York City.
Going back to Vermont in the early 1990s the paths of Chad & Sean were intertwined in many ways, most often with Chad playing percussion and Sean on electric bass. They supported a number of singers, and were part of an all-star lineup that went down to NYC for a super fun audition with Joan Osborne. (She had auditioned most of the musicians on the east coast of America before finally returning to her original band.) No matter, Chad spent the entire ride back home to Vermont laying out his plans to Sean for learning to play acoustic guitar, writing a bunch of cool songs, and developing himself as a Singer/Songwriter. Sean dubiously smiled a lot and made positive suggestions.
A few short months later, the duo were in a recording studio creating their first album together titled Long Haired Boy. Chad had not yet learned guitar [LHB is a percussion/vocal with fretless bass duo], but he very much made good on the promise to write some killer tunes. As the years rolled on, Chad not only learned to play guitar, but developed his own signature percussive style. Vocally he has evolved a character-driven presence on par with any of the greats, and he continues to create accessible and memorable songs, not just as a showcase for his own talents, but always with a positive and unifying spirit. More about Chad's past and current escapades can be found HERE
Sean has been brewing his own distinctive brand of guitar playing, composing, arranging, and band leading in New York City for exactly 30 years now. Between extensive tours and recordings with fellow Windham Hill artists and the astonishing array of world-class vocalists, musicians, and ensembles he works with in New York, Harkness established a vast network of extraordinary humans with whom he interacts daily. He credits Hollister as a profound influence in the early stages of this process, and for setting the standard of what pure joy feels like when the magic is happening on stage.
