Originally from DC, vibraphonist, percussionist and drummer Chris Barrick is a rising presence on the DC jazz scene since returning to the area in 2015. Since moving back to the area, he has performed/recorded with Allyn Johnson, Herman Burney, Lenny Robinson, Vince Evans, Dana Hawkins, Ele Rubenstein, Lena Seikaly, Elijah Jamal Balbed, Joe Herrera, Brad Linde, Abinnet Berhanu, Eliot Seppa, Mark Meadows and Reginald Cyntje, with performances at Blues Alley, the Kennedy Center, the National Portrait Gallery, Strathmore, Bohemian Caverns, Westminster Jazz Night, and An Die Musik.
In addition to pursuits in jazz, he has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, American Pops Orchestra and National Philharmonic as well as theater productions and shows with the Kennedy Center, Shakespeare Theatre Company and Signature Theater.
Chris taught jazz percussion and world music at Northern Kentucky University and percussion, jazz improvisation and music theory at Cincinnati Christian University and is currently Director of Percussion with Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras. He earned his Bachelor of Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and his Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
