Georgetown Day School Jazz Ensemble
GDS Jazz and Creative Music explores the rich history of jazz and improvised music through the repertoires of greats like Charlie Mingus, Duke Ellington, John Zorn, Sun Ra, and many more.
GDS Jazz and Creative Music, directed by Brad Linde, boasts 5 curricular ensembles and its own jazz festival and creative music residency. Students travel to perform for festivals and conferences in Chapel Hill, Boston, Philadelphia, and the JEN Conference in various cities. The bands tour, record, and gig outside of the school day. The program also hosts visiting artists, putting students in touch with internationally recognized musicians.
