CONTRA PONTE PROJECT- Simone Baron and Michael Nirenberg
Pianist-accordionist Simone Baron and Saxophonist Michael Nirenberg present a collaborative project of original music with Brazilian Jewish lilts with the Contra Ponte Project.
Saxophonist and composer Michel Nirenberg is building bridges between the classical, samba and choro music he grew up playing in Brazil and the jazz music he explored more deeply in the United States. His compositions celebrate and build on the common roots found in the music of both hemispheres - a place where African and European influences combine to create a rich and inviting sound.
Pronounced "important to the future of music as an advanced art form," Simone Baron is a pianist, accordionist and composer who has performed throughout Europe, Israel and North America. In 2016 she founded Arco Belo, a unique chamber jazz ensemble that she composes, arranges for and leads. Simone’s work focuses on experimenting and reimagining a sound at the junction of the familiar and the avant-garde.
