Experience a night of timeless elegance and soul-stirring music as we pay tribute to the legendary Roberta Flack—a voice that defined an era with her heartfelt ballads and jazz-infused storytelling. Enjoy classics like “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” “Killing Me Softly,” “Feel Like Makin’ Love,”  and more—performed with the grace and artistry that made Flack an icon.

This special performance features pianist Aaron Hill, vocalist Renee Collins, and bassist Obasi Akoto, bringing Flack’s most beloved songs to life with rich harmonies, deep grooves, and emotional depth.


International Vocalist Renée Collins Georges brings elegance and vocal mastery to every performance. A Los Angeles native and former Raelette, she toured globally with the legendary Ray Charles and began her career on MC Hammer’s Too Legit to Quit tour. Now a headliner in her own right, Renée captivates audiences across the U.S. and abroad. She is a Grammy voting member of the Recording Academy of America, a Maryland Teaching Artist in Baltimore Public Schools, and co-leads the ensemble GEORJAZZ with her husband, trombonist DuPort Georges. Renée is also the founder of Kidz MusiQ Club Jazzing Up Learning! an initiative dedicated to introducing children to jazz through interactive music programs. Obasi Akoto is a veteran American jazz bassist, composer, and educator renowned for his dynamic performances and innovative compositions. Throughout his distinguished career, Akoto has collaborated with numerous jazz luminaries, including Elvin Jones, Cyrus Chestnut, Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Barron, and Abbey Lincoln. Beyond his extensive performance history, Akoto has made significant contributions as a composer and orchestrator. His discography includes multiple recordings, notably his full-length orchestral album, All Over The Map, which showcases his original compositions and has been praised as “impassioned and transformative.”

After dedicating 15 years to university-level teaching, Akoto returned to full-time performing and composing. He leads the ensemble SPARX!, an exceptional group of seasoned professionals whose collective talent transcends boundaries. This ensemble is the culmination of countless performances, where the paths of the musicians intersected, creating an undeniable chemistry and cohesion. Akoto’s dedication to his craft and his ability to blend innovation with tradition have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in contemporary jazz.

Aaron Hill is a Baltimore based pianist, composer, and bandleader known for his dynamic blend of jazz, soul, and hip-hop influences. As the leader of the Aaron Hill Trio, he brings a unique improvisational energy to every performance, seamlessly merging classic jazz traditions with modern grooves. His music is deeply therapeutic, uplifting, and emotionally resonant, drawing from over two decades of experience as a performer and recording artist. Aaron has collaborated with world-class musicians and performed at esteemed venues and festivals, captivating audiences with his expressive playing and innovative arrangements. Whether leading a trio, accompanying vocalists, or crafting intricate solo performances, Aaron’s artistry reflects a deep love for the rich storytelling tradition of jazz.
