Paul Carr, also known as the "Real Jazz Whisperer" is a highly skilled and devoted Jazz Saxophonist who has masterfully incorporated the "Texas Tenor" tradition into his music. Carr's big soulful sound evokes the legendary jazz musicians John Coltrane and Joe Henderson. In 2014, Howard University recognized his excellence in jazz by awarding him the title of Benny Golson Jazz Master. With nine recordings already under his belt, including his latest release "Paul Carr's Legacy Quartet," Carr continues to impress and inspire audiences with his music.
At the upcoming concert at Blues Alley, Carr will be joined by special guest NEA Jazz Master Delfeayo Marsalis on trombone. Marsalis, who hails from the famous Marsalis family, will collaborate with Carr to create a soulful blend of the sounds of New Orleans and Texas. Accompanied by the talented Allyn Johnson on piano, William "Mo Better" Leadbeater on bass and Quincy Phillips on drums, Paul and Delfeayo will surely have you dancing and grooving in your seat.
