Swing, Latin, Funk, and Everything In Between
The GW Jazz Orchestra is The George Washington University’s premiere jazz ensemble, helping to bring the tradition of big band jazz music into GW’s Foggy Bottom campus. Founded in 2015, the band is entirely run by passionate students who work to perform a variety of genres and styles. The GWJO repertoire reflects the constantly evolving tastes of young musicians combined with a deep respect for great composers and arrangers across history. The band stands as a pillar of the music culture at GW, providing a unique experience for musicians and audiences alike through the big band format. The GW Jazz Orchestra continues to challenge both its members and its fans to expand their musical palates year after year.
The GWJO performs on-campus and off-campus at every available opportunity. From showcase sets with the full group, to small combos providing light atmosphere at banquets and events, this band knows how to provide the right entertainment for any kind of venue. The GW Jazz Orchestra will be returning for its annual spring show at Blues Alley in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month.
