Seeds of Joy is a side project of guitarist Michael Raitzyk and violin/vocalist Rebekah Geller. Michael and Rebekah met in 2004 when Rebekah was born. Three years later she started on violin and never looked back. Since then she has developed her classical violin chops performing with the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra for 9 years. She has also toured around the country playing fiddle music for contra dance bands, is a veteran member of the Park School Jazz Collective, plays services for Baltimore Hebrew Congregation and played on leBron James' Graduate Together 2020 video. Michael Raitzyk is a longtime Baltimore guitarist with many different music projects under his belt; Charm City Klezmer, The MRJO big band, The Trio, The Organic Family Band. Raitzyk is also a guitar teacher at Howard Community College and Baltimore School for the Arts.
Seeds of Joy takes the traditions of fiddle, Klezmer, Jazz and pop music and puts it into a creative, open ended zone where reimagined harmonies and extended improvisations keep it fresh.
