Dave Sanders (M.A. Rutgers University, B.M. Temple University) is a guitarist in the Washington D.C. area. He has shared the stage with a variety of acts and performers, including Patti LuPone, Liz Callaway, Betty Who, Branford Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Nathan Gunn, the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, the American Pops, John Swana, and Larry McKenna. Dave’s playing can be heard on WRTI FM in Philadelphia, and he has previously appeared as a featured solo artist at the Jazz by Night Music Festival. His versatility has allowed him to branch between Jazz, Rock and Musical Theater, allowing him to perform at venues up and down the east cost, including the Apollo Theater, the Kennedy Center, the Kimmel Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Arena Stage, the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, Dizzy's, the Warner Theater, the Hamilton, Twins Jazz Club, Chris's Jazz Cafe, World Cafe Live, the Steel Stacks, and the Barnes. In addition to his performing career, Dave has worked often as an educator (Towson University, Rutgers University, Settlement Music School) and occasionally, he writes for publications like the Ethnomusicology Review. His first album as a leader, “A Turning Point,” will be released in 2018.
