Featuring Louis Hayes
Louis Hayes is a drummer who has been at the very heart of straight-ahead jazz for the past 50 years. His impeccable feel and infectious swing sometimes make it seem as if he invented jazz drumming. He established his considerable reputation in the 1950s and ’60s through extended stints with Horace Silver, Oscar Peterson, and Cannonball Adderley and he celebrates the legacy of that last of these giants with this band. It’s a group that features the soulful hard bop and effusive swing that made Julian “Cannonball” Adderley one of the most popular jazz artists of all time. With a spectacular lineup that includes Vincent Herring, Jeremy Pelt (with Freddie Hendrix replacing him on Sunday), Rick Germanson, and Dezron Douglas, the Cannonball Legacy Band truly is one of the most satisfying jazz groups working today.
