The Bethesda Blues & Jazz Youth Orchestra is excited to announce our 2nd annual "Young Artist Series" concert featuring guitarist Jackson Dunkin! The concert will feature the BBJYO performing iconic songs such as Dave Brubeck's "Take Five," "The Jeep is Jumpin'" by Johnny Hodges and Duke Ellington, Roberta Flack's "You'll Never Know," and the funky "Mr. Dynamite" by DC's own Ben Williams. Our featured guest, Jackson, will perform a few tunes with the orchestra and also present his own quartet set
Jackson Dunkin, a junior music business major and jazz guitar minor at Howard University, is from Greenwood Lake, New York. His musical journey began at the age of 5. He is an active member of The Howard University Jazz Ensemble, where he hones his skills and collaborates with fellow musicians. He has even had the privilege of opening for the renowned pop artist Maude Latour, showcasing his versatility as a performer. Jackson has served as the curator and bandleader for the summer jazz brunch series at Glenmere Mansion in Chester, New York. In 2022, Jackson assumed the role of a guitar teacher for The Salvation Army in Washington, DC. He has been dedicatedly imparting his knowledge and skills to young, aspiring musicians, shaping the next generation of talents. He is honored to be the featured guest artist for the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Orchestra.
