New Dominion Chorale

In celebration of the power of music in the face of suffering, the 120-voice New Dominion Chorale presents the Fauré Requiem (1893) and the Stabat Mater (1988) of Artistic Director Thomas Beveridge on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA. This performance commemorates the centennial of Fauré's death. Unusually, the Requiem offers profound reassurance in a time of anxiety and dread, omitting the usual "Day of Wrath". The Stabat Mater, hailed by The Washington Post as “brilliant," explores the mystery of sharing in others' suffering, leading to the promise of Paradise. The program also includes Purcell's "O Sing unto the Lord" (1688) with the ringing affirmation, "He shall judge the people righteously." The performance features soloists Helena Colindres, soprano, and Nathaniel Sullivan, baritone, who are Finalists of the 2023 Washington International Competition for Voice, with Todd Fickley, organist, and a chamber orchestra.
