The Mike Kamuf Little Big Band is a jazz ensemble that brings together eight talented musicians from the Washington D.C/Baltimore region. The group’s repertoire consists of original compositions and arrangements penned by Mike Kamuf as well as jazz standards and selections from the Great American Songbook. The arrangements cover many styles within the jazz idiom. The group’s instrumentation and arrangements provide both the musicians and their audiences with the subtlety and spontaneity of a small ensemble coupled with the impact and excitement of a big band.
The group was originally formed in Ohio in 1991 with the encouragement of Mike’s mentor and friend, the late Tony Leonardi. The current edition of band has quite a following in the Mid-Atlantic region. The MKLBB has performed at numerous events and venues including Blues Alley, the Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival, the National Jazz Workshop and the Frederick (MD) Jazz Festival.
The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is excited to present The Mike Kamuf Little Big Band for an evening of exciting and dynamic big band jazz.
Doors will open at 4:30PM. Drinks and refreshments will be available for purchase before the concert and during Intermission.
