The Jones Girls—Shirley, Brenda, and Valorie—were a powerhouse R&B trio whose harmonies defined the late 1970s and early 1980s. Hailing from Detroit, they started as backup singers for icons like Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, and Teddy Pendergrass, but soon emerged as stars in their own right.
Signed to Philadelphia International Records, the sisters found success with their 1979 hit "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else," which reached No. 5 on the R&B charts.
