Angela Bingham & Deidre Struck: Love Detectives, Mother's Day Edition
Angela Bingham - vocals
Deidre Struck - vocals/piano
Angela Bingham is a real jazz singer’s singer - always conversational, yet leaning into improvisation without sacrificing the original songwriter’s intent. She consistently delights audiences with her exquisite taste in material, rich alto voice, and compelling stage presence.
Deidre Struck is a New York City based pianist/singer/songwriter. Originally from Idaho, she moved to NYC to play keyboards for The Big Apple Circus in 1997 after getting a Masters in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. She has released three jazz recordings on the Sunnyside label, performed with such artists as Elvis Costello and Debbie Harry, and is a Teaching Artist for Carnegie Hall. In 2019, Deidre released a pop EP under the name Tiny Language, co-written and produced with Byron Isaacs of The Lumineers.
Angela and Deidre met in 2009 and share a lifelong friendship and musical affinity. This is their second outing together at the Sharp 9. The song “Love Detective,” composed by NYC saxophonist Roy Nathanson, has become the musical vehicle in which these two talented women travel. Expect a fun, tender look at love through the lens of motherhood - with plenty of surprising improvisational departures along the way.
