Nanny Assis was born in Salvador, Brazil in 1969. A drummer, percussionist, guitarist, singer-songwriter, and more, he has performed alongside artists such as Janis Siegel, Vinicius Cantuária, Eumir Deodato and João Donato among others. He is a teacher of Brazilian jazz, Afro-Brazilian music and other folk sounds of his native land.
He has a great capacity for Brazilian jazz, Bossa Nova, Forró and a series of Afro-Brazilian sounds. Nanny has more than 30 years of career, performed in concerts in several countries, in which they involve the audience with their charisma and contagious presence. In 2011 he received the prestigious Brazilian International Press Award as "Best Singer of the Year". Hundreds of votes cast on the Internet gave Nanny the first stage of musical recognition with the Brazilian community around the world.
Nanny Assis has recorded four albums: "Rovanio (The Music of Nanny Assis)" 2023, "Honey & Air" 2017, "Brazilian Vibes" 2010 and "Double Rainbow" 2006. In 2017, Nanny received the award as ambassador of Brazilian music to Japan for his continuous artistic development of Brazilian music and culture.
Nanny has performed in venues including; Palais Montcalm Quebec City, BBKing, Blue Note NYC, Carnegie Hall. Bimhuis Amsterdan, Jazz Standard, Birdland, Joe's Pub, Vortex Jazz Club London, Sunset Paris, Regattabar, Dakota Jazz Club, BBC London, Queen Elizabeth Hall London, Blue Note in Milan , Rome Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Fregey Theater in Belgium, TCA in Brazil and Chiasso Festival in Switzerland.
