Jimmy Baseman - Trumpet, vocals, and effects
Kyle Vinton - Flugelhorn and Synthesizer
Jimmy Baseman is a Baltimore based trumpet player, performer, teacher, and sound technician. He has spent the last 10 years in Baltimore playing with different groups across multiple genres including jazz, soul, pop, and free improvisation. In recent years, he has been experimenting with FXs and Loop pedals in order to create multi-layered improvisations with a variety of textures. Baseman's interest for free improvisation and curiosity of electronic effects combine to fuel his exploration into the electro acoustic genre.
Kyle Vinton previously studied music composition at Towson University and computer music at the Institute of Sonology, Den Haag. He was an active participant in the Out of Your Head improvised music collective in Baltimore which led to the formation of groups and recording of records with like minded musicians. Bannermen is another example of his interest in exploring electro acoustic improvisation. In this case, the medium is flugelhorn and eurorack synthesizer.
Bannermen is a collaborative duo created by Jimmy Baseman and Kyle Vinton that specializes in electro acoustic improvisation. They combine the acoustic elements of trumpet, flugelhorn, vocals and percussion with synth and electronic effect pedals to improvise dense soundscapes ranging from ethereal brass chorales to digital rhythmic chaos. Leaving no stone unturned, Bannermen seek to use every tool at their disposal when exploring new sounds.
