An accomplished concert pianist and piano pedagogue, Jiayin Shen holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Peabody Institute. She was the youngest student ever admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, at age 7, and brings extraordinary artistry and charismatic stage presence to her performances. She has performed on major international concert stages such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the National Gallery of Arts, Kennedy Center, Wigmore Hall, and Beijing Concert Hall. Jiayin has toured extensively throughout her native China, as well Europe and the U.S.

As a pedagogue, Jiayin has 20 years of teaching experience in the U.S. and China. Her former students have studied at leading music institutions. Jiayin has served on the juries of various competitions, including Music Teacher National Association, Novik Concerto, and Margaret Frank Piano Competitions. She was a piano faculty at the Preparatory Division at Peabody Institute, a guest professor at Qingdao University in Qingdao, China and has been a piano faculty at the Third Street Music School Settlement in New York City since 2014. She maintains a thriving private studio and her students have won top prizes in international competitions and excelled in exams. She was asked to be the U.S. liaison for the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing and created a bridge for many world-class musicians and the institution.

Jiayin made her American debut in 2002 with the University of Michigan Philharmonic at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. She won the Baltimore Music Club Piano Competition, Xin Hai National Piano Competition (Beijing), and University of Michigan Concerto Competition. She has appeared at renowned international music festivals, including the Internationale Konzerabeitswochen, Bowdoin, Banff, Toronto, and Pianofest in the Hamptons, and worked with world-class pianists such as Leon Fleisher, Yong Hi Moon, Paul Schenly, Victoria Mushkatkol and Arie Vardi.

In addition to her solo endeavors, Dr. Shen is actively involved in chamber music performances. Jiayin and the pioneering moving-image artist, Eric Dyer founded Duo Kinetica in 2023. The Duo pushes the boundary of traditional art forms in their collaboration and has been invited to perform by various international art organizations and festivals.
