ANOTHER LOOK AT BOB DYLAN
WITH GEOFFREY HIMES & HELEN YUEN
Singer-songwriter Geoffrey Himes, author of books on Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris and Rosanne Cash, is now working on a book about Bob Dylan for Quarto Publishing in Boston. He will be reading selected passages from that book-in-progress as well as singing songs written by Dylan and songs by himself under Dylan’s influence. He will be accompanied by cellist Helen Yuen. This afternoon event will be followed by Himes signing copies of his earlier books.
GEOFFREY HIMES: Though he is best known as a music critic for the Washington Post, American Songwriter, Jazz Times, No Depression, Paste and many more, Geoffrey Himes is also a longtime singer-songwriter who has co-written songs with Si Kahn, Fred Koller, Walter Egan, Sonia Rutstein, Billy Kemp, Stephen Wade, Jim Patton, Tony Denikos, Alan MacEwan, James Von Lenz, Ed Pettersen, Andrew Grimm, Bob Kannenberg and others. As the founder of the Roots Café, he has served since 2008 as the host of Maryland’s best singer-songwriter series. At this show, he will be playing such new compositions as “Incandescent Light.”

HELEN YUEN: After a career in arts administration at the American Visionary Art Museum, the Reginal Lewis Museum and the Creative Alliance, Helen Yuen now focuses her time studying violin, cello, and piano at Towson University. Her soundtrack recording for the short film “Wrecking / Renewal” is now on view at the Star-Spangled Flag House Museum through July 2028. She’s honored to be returning to An die Musik for a second performance this year in Geoffrey Himes’ Roots Series.
