Join artist Andrea Jane Wheeler for a modern-day Art Salon Experience exploring an artistic dialogue across generations with her great-aunt, Harlem Renaissance painter Laura Wheeler Waring (1887–1948). Her artistic journey In “Portraits, Personalities and Parallels” – Wheeler presents an illustrative walk and tribute revealing Waring’s artistic journey through historical archives, contemporary artwork, storytelling and live musical accompaniment.
Accompanied by former U.S. Navy Band bassist CC Wilson, discover how art preserves history, celebrates humanity, and connects us across generations.
Andrea Jane Wheeler’s work exhibited with The Black Art Today Foundation, DuPont Underground, DC Eaton Hotel, The Foundation for Cultural Expression, DC Mayors Office of LGBTQ Affairs Open House and currently at ARTbae, LLC for the Westside revitalization project in Baltimore.
Guitarist Ronny Smith and his Band - 8:00 PM
Ronny Smith and his band present an engaging concert of straight ahead and contemporary jazz featuring original compositions infused with influences from jazz, soul, funk, blues, gospel, and Latin music. The program showcases selections from his award-winning catalog, including music from his latest album, Velvet Vibe. In addition to his original works, Smith offers tasteful interpretations and tributes to legendary jazz guitarists Wes Montgomery and George Benson, while maintaining a contemporary sound that is distinctly his own. The result is an accessible, groove-driven concert experience that combines memorable melodies, expressive improvisation, and sophisticated musicianship, appealing to both dedicated jazz enthusiasts and general audiences alike.
