Mr. Henry’s is pleased to welcome the Jeffrey Ernstoff Quartet on Thursday evening, June 19th . Join us for classic jazz tunes by Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane et al, offered with a fun dose of “behind the scenes” anecdotes and audience interaction. Relatively new to DC, Jeffrey Ernstoff is the Creative Director for The World Innovation Network and the former Creative Director for Radio City Music Hall in NYC. He performs on assorted flutes, saxophones and percussion, and has appeared with Grammy winners Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, Manhattan Transfer and others at Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Bitter End in NYC, Buddy Guy’s in Chicago and other venues in LA, Boston, Miami, London and Copenhagen. A three-time Fellow at the National Endowment for the Arts, Jeffrey served as Creative Director for five Super Bowl Halftimes and developed music for four Olympic Ceremonies and over a dozen TV specials. At Mr. Henry’s, his quartet will also feature South African-born Sipho Kunene on drums. Mentored by the legendary Jo Jones, Sipho has played all over the world with Hugh Masekela, Ladysmith Black Mombasa, the “Three Mo Tenors” (seen on PBS) and the Mathew Whittaker Trio. The rhythm section is rounded out by DC’s own Harry Appleman on keyboard and John Pineda on bass.
