Alysa Ain is a D.C.-based jazz singer praised for her sweet, natural tone and elegant, heartfelt interpretations of standards, whose love for the Great American Songbook is rooted in a childhood spent singing Gershwin and Richard Rodgers with her mother at the piano. Alysa studied jazz in NYC with vocalist Tammy Scheffer, and since her move to Washington has appeared regularly as a performer at venues across the city. She currently studies voice with Marisa Michelson and is an apprentice in Vocal DeArmoring, a somatic, process-oriented approach to vocal pedagogy. In addition to jazz, Alysa practices experimental vocal improvisation, and is a classically trained violist.
