The Capital City Voices is an established, premier jazz adult choir that has been delighting DC-area audiences for years. Led by Alison Crockett since 2022, CCV makes its home at the Levine School of Music.
What could be better than combining the wonderful quality of the human voice with the hip sound of jazz? Capital City Voices honors the tradition of vocal jazz groups such as Manhattan Transfer, Lambert Hendricks and Ross, and Take 6, and takes on instrumental pieces arranged for voice with a style uniquely its own. This choir has sung regularly through out the DC area being featured at the DJ Jazz Festival, Blues Alley and performs at Mr. Henry’s yearly.
CCV is composed of lively “grown ups” from all walks of life and we love blending our lived experience with our choral expression. Working with the choir affords us rich insights into the rhythmic, sonic and historic foundations of Jazz.
