Sat May 10
Abi Koehler is a bassist, recording artist, and teacher in Baltimore. Equally enthusiastic as an orchestral musician, chamber musician and soloist, Abi regularly performs in local orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo recitals and jazz/rock groups in the Baltimore/DC area. She loves working with modern composers and performing contemporary music, as well as exploring historical performance on the viola da gamba.
Abi studied with Nina Decesare and Ira Gold at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she graduated with a BM in Bass Performance and Recording Arts and is now in her last year as an MA in Audio Sciences. She'll be attending USC Thornton in the fall for her masters in Bass Performance.
For this performance, Abi brings together a vast group of friends to celebrate graduation, the end of the school year, and her final months in Baltimore with a wide range of chamber music from renaissance to modern times.
