Washington Master Chorale (Fall)

Our season opens with music that began in villages and ended in the concert hall. Dvorák set the folk songs of his own country with the gravity usually saved for scripture. Bartók walked into the Hungarian countryside and came back with treasure. Eriks Ešenvalds's Northern Lights rings on water-tuned glasses and power chimes. Washington Master Chorale's own Kabanya Vinson premieres an arrangement of All Creatures of Our God and King. And R. Nathaniel Dett, who found in Dvorák the permission to do the same for the music of his own people, closes the afternoon with The Chariot Jubilee for chorus, organ, and tenor.
