Ella & The Bossa Beat is a dynamic international father-daughter group featuring 25-year-old singer/pianist Ella, hailed as a 'new rising star of the Jazz generation,' alongside Grammy-nominated drummer Magrus Borges, known for his work with legends like Astrud Gilberto and Grace Jones. Their original music blends jazz and soul with Brazilian jazz influences.
Ella Blu, vocalist and pianist considered ‘the new rising star of the Jazz generation’ was born in Miami and raised in Brazil, besides composing, writing lyrics and producing together with her father, the 25-year-old artist sings in Portuguese, English and Italian. She presents a very classic jazz style, mixing with a bit of soul, Bossa Nova and Brazilian Jazz. In 2020, Ella was awarded the Focus Brazil award for Best Female singer in Orlando. She is a graduate from Stetson University with a BA in International Business and Music and is a member of the Recording Academy.
Magrus Borges, is a Grammy nominated drummer and percussionist, composer and producer from Belem, Brazil. He has played and recorded with many international artists such as: Astrud Gilberto (The Girl from Ipanema) Bebel Gilberto, (Grammy nominated for her album “Agora”), Shakira, Grace Jones, Tania Maria, Larry Coryell, Caetano Veloso, Luis Melodia and Johnny Alf (one of the fathers of Bossa Nova), among many others. He has recorded six original albums and produced for various artists. Member of the Recording Academy.
While performing and recording in the United States and abroad, Ella & The Bossa Beat have been releasing singles and doing a collaboration with other international artists such as TOCO, together with Italian record label Schema Records. Their single “Areia” reached 100+ steams on Spotify. They have been playing at many jazz venues, festivals and private events and have a residence at Universal Studios in Orlando. In 2024, the band started the year touring in Brazil playing at the Blue Note in Rio de Janeiro and Blue Note in Sao Paulo and later at the Blue Note in Milano, Italy. Later that year Ella & The Bossa Beat released their 3rd studio album “Paradise” and is currently finishing their 4th album with Schema Records in Italy, to be released later in 2026.
Joining them is Cleveland's own international bass player, Kip Reed. It's magical that we're able to bring Kip and Magrus back together again as they played together back in the 90s with the Brazilian jazz diva, Tania Maria.
