GenOUT Chorus
Today’s special performance at Mr. Henry’s will feature GMCW’s GenOUT Chorus, the DC area’s only vocal ensemble for LGBTQ+ and allied youth, ages 13-18. The funds raised at today’s brunch will directly benefit GenOUT’s music & service trip to Asheville, NC, where they will join forces with Nashville’s Major Minors. GenOUT and Major Minors are two of only six choirs for LGBTQ+ and allied youth in the entire US. GenOUT’s mission is to give LGBTQ+ and allied youth a voice through song and to connect that voice to community. Singers in GenOUT are leaders in the movement to promote social justice and protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people. They offer themselves as symbols and spokespersons for the struggle against discrimination and for equality. They lend their voices to messages of acceptance, affirmation, and love, and they offer their faces to the image of what the world can be.
