Brooklyn based trumpeter and composer Allison Philips brings her quartet to Baltimore for the first time in support of Make It Better, a powerful new album shaped by resilience, memory, and creative renewal. Written during the pandemic and brought to life with longtime collaborators Neta Raanan (tenor sax), Isaac Levien (bass), and Connor Parks (drums), the music blends lyrical depth with dynamic improvisation. With roots in jazz and a spirit of reflection, the group delivers emotionally charged performances that honor the past while looking forward.
Allison Philips, praised by Jazz Scene for exploring “the line between song and sonic exploration,” released their debut EP in 2017 and album Placement and Longing in 2021. She has toured across North America and Europe. Philips has performed with artists such as The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Ravi Coltrane, Alfa Mist, Aberdeen, Japanese Breakfast, Yo La Tengo, and at venues like Carnegie Hall, The Bimhuis, and North Sea Jazz Festival.
