The Atsura Trio is coming to The Mainstay in Rock Hall to present a perfect concert for an afternoon of Chamber Music enjoyment. The trio consists of violinist Sachiho Murasugi, cellist Jeffrey Schoyen, and pianist Walter Atha – the perfect trio to perform some of the most beautiful and inspiring music of the classical genre.
The program begins with 12 inventive variations on a theme by Handel by Ludwig von Beethoven; Frédéric Chopin’s Sonata for Cello in G minor, Op. 65; and a not-to-be missed trio by Fanny Mendelssohn. The pièce(s) de résistance, however, may be Concerti per Camera, Opus 3 for violin and cello by 17th-century composer Giuseppe Maria Jacchini. These works were discovered 10 years ago in a library in Bologna, Italy by cellist Jeffrey Schoyen when he was researching baroque-era pieces to play on his cello. Another gem will be the haunting Japanese anime composition, Haru no Kaze, arranged for piano and violin by Satoshi Takebe.
And there will be one more surprise! All in all, this is a Chamber Music lover’s dream with great appeal for music lovers of all types. Come join us!
