Led by bassist Phil Ravita and including some of the DMV's finest musicians, Ravita Jazz returns to An die Musik Live! with new and classic tunes. Enjoy jazz, funk and blues from of the band’s latest recording Alice Blue.
Since its May release, Alice Blue has risen steadily on jazz radio charts and received critical acclaim. Jazz journalist Raul da Gama calls the music “relevant and enduring,” lauding the album's “beautifully crafted arrangements.” Scott Yanow comments, “Alice Blue, features the musicians of Ravita Jazz in top form and introduces a variety of creative originals, is easily recommended.” Hear originals such as “Golden Sky” and “Almost Blue,” which are getting airplay throughout North America! Jazz lovers will also be treated to tunes by Bill Evans and Duke Ellington.
One of the Mid-Atlantic’s most versatile and sought after bassists, Dr. Ravita appears with many jazz and classical ensembles. He is a college and university jazz professor and hosts a weekly radio program on WMTB 89.9 FM. He has shared the stage with jazz greats Jimmy Heath, Bobby Shew, Claudio Roditi and Ruby Glover, appearing in countless clubs, concert halls and festivals.
