Mike Geffner's Inspired Word, NYC

Mike Geffner’s Inspired Word, one of New York City’s most popular indie performance series, presents Soundz & Vibez Off-Broadway Music & Poetry Spectacular.

The Lineup features…

Sound Bazaar is a Brooklyn-based indie band blending jazz, psychedelic rock, soul and North African influences. Their music combines rich harmonies, deep grooves, and inventive effects, creating a vibrant and immersive sound. With Rania Bensadok’s captivating vocals, Myles Onosko’s layered keyboard and bass lines, Mike O’Dea’s hypnotic guitar riffs, and Elliot Srikantia’s intricate rhythms, the band crafts songs that balance bold energy with thoughtful detail. Sound Bazaar’s music offers a fresh and engaging experience, driven by creativity and a shared passion for pushing musical boundaries.

Ella Reese Richardson is a student by day, and a singer/songwriter at every other waking moment. She has found music to be the most effective way to express herself and instrumental in her personal growth. In 2022, Ella founded a volunteer program called Singing For Serenity, for which she organized and participated in monthly performances at the Cobble Hill Health Center senior citizens’ home located in Brooklyn, NY.Ella also regularly performs out in NY and has also performed in CO and Bangkok, Thailand. She is excited to continue her journey as an artist next year at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU.Ella aspires to impact the world with her music and to create community by connecting with her audiences.

Margo Sophia is a folk-pop musical artist based in Brooklyn, New York, blending the cinematic softness of Lana Del Rey with the Americana influences of Fleetwood Mac. She first took the stage in 2023 as a featured vocalist with NYC jazz-fusion band Strawberry Sun, performing at venues like The Bitter End, Brooklyn Made, Rockwood Music Hall, and Pianos. Now stepping fully into her own artistry, Margo released her debut single, True Colors, on June 27 — a love letter to Brooklyn wrapped in lush melodies and vulnerable storytelling. Her live sets weave original songs with reimagined classics, creating an intimate atmosphere that draws listeners in. She will be accompanied by guitarist Dillon Hughes.

Brian Pawlikowski is a Queens-born poet who currently writes from Brooklyn. Inspired by the work of poets like Roberto Montes and Frank O’Hara & songwriters like Florence Welch and Adrianne Lenker, Brian primarily writes through his interpersonal relationships to capture their quirks, gravity, and beauty. Drawing upon humor, desire, futility, and reconstructed memory, Brian aims to move readers who can find themselves reliving a familiar feeling.

Hosted by former journalist Mike Geffner, who founded InspiredWordNYC in March 2009.
