The concert will be a celebration of the release of the ChillQuiet Band’s debut album “Full Bloom” which is solely composed of original compositions. They will play selections from the record along with new tunes and arrangements. The ChillQuiet Band is a contemporary jazz quintet led by Josh Morris on trumpet and Anneke Scace on alto saxophone. The other three band members are current students at Peabody and local to the DC area.
Anneke is an alto saxophonist and classically trained flutist making waves on the DC scene. A graduate of Gaithersburg High School, Anneke attends the University of Maryland on a full-ride scholarship. She is a two-time Washington Women in Jazz Festival Emerging Artist. She currently studies with Matt Estabrook (a student of Miguel Zenon's) and previously studied with Paul Carr and James Bazen. Other mentors include Leigh Pilzer, Amy K Bormet, Elijah Jamal Balbed and Herb Scott. Anneke has performed with acclaimed artists George Cables and Randy Brecker. Aside from performing, Anneke is a passionate arts advocate and is currently working to advance jazz policy initiatives alongside the Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation.
Josh is a trumpet player and composer from Bethesda. He spent a year at the University of North Texas performing in the renowned Two O'clock Lab Band under the mentorship of Rob Parton and Philip Dizack. Josh currently attends the Peabody Institute, where he studies under Sean Jones. Previously, Josh studied classical trumpet with Marshall White and was Assistant Principal in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra. Josh was a semi-finalist in the 2025 National Trumpet Competition and has performed with artists including trumpeters Arturo Sandoval, Randy Brecker and Terrell Stafford. As both a composer and a performer, Josh blends jazz tradition with his creative vision, chasing a unique and original sound.
