Sebastian Fuentes Quintet - Contemporary Jazz and New Music.
Sebastian Fuentes is a jazz guitarist, composer, and educator from Santiago, Chile, based in Boston. He has performed at festivals including the Panama Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, Chile Jazz Por La Paz, and Chileuropa, among others.
His work as a guitarist and composer is rooted in contemporary jazz. In 2022, he released his album Abstract Sea, a project that brings together jazz and Chilean influences.
Sebastian studied Performance and Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music, where he worked with guitarists including Tim Miller and Mick Goodrick. He later completed his master’s degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, studying with artists such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, Dave Liebman, George Garzone, Terri Lyne Carrington, Adam Cruz, Ben Street, Marco Pignataro, and others. During this period, he also studied with Brazilian guitarist Chico Pinheiro.
Since 2023, Sebastian has been pursuing doctoral studies at the New England Conservatory, working with musicians including Jerry Bergonzi, Donny McCaslin, and Jason Palmer. He also teaches in Berklee College of Music’s City Music program and at ZUMIX in East Boston.
